DACAS CPU Q

ComplexUrban

Complexurban is an umbrella for three related complexity based research groups across multiple disciplines and institutions

DACAS

The ESRC Strategic Network Data and Cities as Complex Adaptive Systems (DACAS) promotes a synergetic complexity science approach to urgent urban issues. The international network brings together researchers from a range of different fields, including architecture, environmental economics and theoretical physics. DACAS collaborates closely with business and government develop new evidence-based responses to urban challenges through the use of urban data and related emergent disruptions and practices.

CPU

Complexity, Planning and Urbanism (CPU) is a research laboratory at the Manchester School of Architecture. CPU uses a complexity framework to develop new digital tools, computational thinking and urban theory addressing future ICT disruptions and spatio-temporal dynamics in urban processes. The transdisciplinary research spans planning for evolutionary and emergent city systems, digital participation and inclusion, data platforms for resilient cities and urban simulations for sustainable future scenarios.

Q

Q operates across disciplinary, institutional and subject-specific boundaries. It is is the umbrella for creative and transdisciplinary research in response to pressing questions derived from urgent real-world problems.
